Peggy Pletcher MS, RD, LD, CDE
Peggy Pletcher is a registered dietitian with a Masters degree in exercise physiology and Certifications as a Diabetes Educator and Health Coach. Peggy has been developing nutrition programs for over 20 years for a variety of clients, ranging from those who wanted to lose weight and get healthy, to those with diabetes and heart disease. She has developed group weight loss classes, as well as disease management programs for general populations. Throughout her career she has authored a broad spectrum of wellness, fitness and nutrition-oriented educational materials and presentations, targeting individuals, corporate, and community audiences. Peggy has extensive experience helping people set realistic goals that leads to achievable results and long term success. She believes in wellness, a balanced lifestyle, and a holistic approach when helping people achieve their lifestyle and fitness goals. When she is not working, Peggy enjoys time with her family along with running, cycling and joining her favorite yoga class.
Jenny Kidd RD, LD
Jenny Kidd is a registered dietitian currently working on a Masters degree in Clinical Nutrition. She graduated from University of California, Berkeley in 2004 with a Bachelors degree in Nutritional Science and completed her internship through California State University, Long Beach before becoming a registered dietitian. She has been working in the clinical hospital setting since 2005 and has enjoyed seeing patients with a variety of diagnoses including heart disease, kidney disease, diabetes, malnutrition, pulmonary issues, feeding issues, and weight management to help them optimize their nutrition during their hospitalization and thereafter. She has also counseled individuals in an outpatient setting for weight management, guidelines for bariatric surgery diets, heart health, and more. She enjoyed teaching Heart Healthy Eating classes for a cardiac rehab program as well as developing numerous teaching tools, handouts, and other education materials for all ages including an elementary nutrition education curriculum. Jenny obtained a Certificate of Training in Childhood and Adolescent Weight Management in 2006. She enjoys teaching nutrition and helping others to build skills and habits for a healthy lifestyle. At home she likes cooking with fresh ingredients, trying new recipes, and enjoying the outdoors.
Meet the Physical Therapists from Scott and White Healthcare
Amanda Petter, MPT
Amanda has been working in orthopedic clinics since 2000. Her credentials include having a Master of Physical Therapy. She graduated Magna Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Science in Biology and minor in psychology from Sam Houston State University where she was scholarship collegiate volleyball player for four years and an All-America Academic player. She has received an additional B.S. in Healthcare Science followed by a Master of Science in Physical Therapy from University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston.
Amanda specializes in working with a diverse patient population, ranging from athletes to geriatrics. Her background includes working at a variety of outpatient orthopedic clinics in the surrounding Georgetown area where she gained knowledge of various diagnoses. She also has experience in the home health field, as well. She has a strong love for running and fitness. She has assisted with employee wellness by establishing a running program for employees and continues to participate on a regular basis in area running events. She has assisted for past two years with screening area athletes for the annual Scott and White high school physicals, has volunteered at the Saturday morning sports clinic for high school athletes, and has been a guest speaker at Georgetown high school career days.
Amanda is a great addition to the Scott & White Healthcare System. She has been instrumental in developing the wound care and lymphedema programs at the Georgetown clinic and has provided quality patient care at both the Scott & White University Medical Center campus and Georgetown clinic.
Future plans for Amanda include furthering her knowledge in the areas of lymphedema and wound care and to obtain a Doctor of Physical therapy as a means to provide further service to patients of all ages in our growing community.
Amanda currently lives in Georgetown with her husband Greg and three children Nicholas, 8, Cole, 7, and Andrew, 4. She is involved in volunteering at Ford Elementary, at her church as a religious education teacher, and her hobbies include running, biking, swimming, gardening, scrapbooking and other recreational sport activities.
Jill Rubin, MPT
Jill Rubin has been a licensed Physical Therapist for the past 4 years in outpatient and sports medicine rehabilitation. Jill graduated from Texas A&M University in College Station, TX in 2003 with a Bachelors of Science. From 2003 to 2005, Jill attended The University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston, Texas where she received her Masters of Physical Therapy in December of 2005. Jill worked at Christus St. John Sports Medicine and Rehabilitation in Nassau Bay, TX upon first graduating. In late 2006, Jill and her husband moved to Austin, TX where she began her career with Scott and White Healthcare in Round Rock, in the Sports Medicine and Rehabilitation department. Jill has attended several continuing education courses to further her knowledge in the field of physical therapy. Such courses include Kinesiotaping techniques and Sports Rehabilitation of the Lower Extremity most recently.
Jill and husband, a lawyer working in downtown Austin, enjoy living in Austin exploring the outdoors and local art and music scene. Running, pilates and cooking are JillÕs favorite pastimes. Jill has been active in a local Austin running club for the past two and a half years. She finished her second marathon, the Austin Marathon, on February 14, 2010. Jill has great passion for learning about the human body, testing its limits and learning new and innovative ways to treat and heal.
